Art at Sydney Wharf
In recognition of the long maritime history of the site, Sydney Wharf incorporates a signature public art sculpture at the prominent north-eastern edge of the site. This signature piece is supported by a primary interpretive marker and a series of secondary interpretive markers along the eastern boardwalk.
Advice and guidance in relation to the public art strategy was provided by public art consultants, Artscape. Artist Braddon Snape was selected to design and fabricate a signature artwork to respond to the historical context of the site and surrounding area and to connect in a meaningful way with the public space. Signature Artwork Braddon Snape has responded to the brief by designing a piece that conceptually and formally explores the idea of the edge between built form and harbour or, more fundamentally, between land and water. It creates the sense that the artwork is yearning towards the water whilst being locked to the land.
