A GOOD NEIGHBOURS NAUTICAL COLLABORATION IN PYRMONT

Sydney Wharf Apartments have established a partnership with next door neighbours The Sydney Heritage Fleet Museum, in a mutually beneficial relationship to help showcase nautical artifacts from the Museum in the Sydney Wharf lobbies.

The first of these pieces, a large brass and timber shipʼs wheel, believed to be from a late 19th century barque or windjammer, is now sitting proudly in the main lobby and was formally presented on loan to The Sydney Wharf, on Tuesday, the 26th of July.

In turn, The Sydney Wharf has donated a cheque to help promote the excellent work the Museum has done over the years in preserving Sydneyʼs unique maritime heritage.

Pictured at the Wheel presentation are, left to right, Wayne Butler, [Sydney Wharf Building Manager], Maria Johnson [representing The Executive Commitee], Nick Papageorgiou and Cody Morgan [who did the beautiful resoration of The Wheel] representing the Sydney Heritage Fleet Museum.

Sydney Wharfʼs Executive Committee members, tasked with decorating the lobbies, approached Jon Simpson, Museum CEO, with the idea of sourcing artifacts to extend the Museumʼs exhibits beyond and through the neighbouring Pyrmont wharf precinct.
